Applicants from Indeed
An ad you post on Indeed keeps its applicants inside Indeed until Indeed agrees to send them somewhere else. Ask it to switch on Apply URL, point each ad at your apply page, and everybody who answers the ad lands on your Hiring board like anybody else who applies there — screening questions, the OK-to-text box and all.
Before you ask Indeed
Have a page for each job you advertise.
Hiring › Apply pages
One page per station and job, wearing live — Page is open — applications land on the board ticked, then Save page. A job with no page yet starts at + New page — a second job, or a second address.
Copy that page’s Indeed link.
Hiring › Apply pages › Where it hangs
Under Job posts and the website, press Copy the Indeed link: the page’s address, ending in
?src=indeed. That ending is what marks every applicant as coming from Indeed. No such button? Tick Links may name it beside Indeed under Hiring › Configuration › Where candidates come from.Open the link in a private window.
You should see the job and the form, with nobody signed in. That is what Indeed’s reviewer sees, and every applicant after them.
Ask Indeed to switch it on
Apply URL is off on an Indeed account until Indeed switches it on, and the decision is Indeed’s. Its rules ask for three things: a link that goes straight to an application, a way to tell which applicants came from Indeed, and a reason the application has to happen on your side. Your page and its ?src=indeed ending are the first two; the reason is yours to give.
Open Indeed’s help.
Indeed › Help › Contact us
Help sits in the top bar of your Indeed employer account, beside your account. Chat, call or send a message — in a chat, type talk to a person. If you have an Indeed account rep, ask them instead.
Ask for Apply URL, with your reason and your link.
Something like: “Please switch on Apply URL for our employer account. Our applications go through our hiring system — applicants answer our screening questions, choose whether we may text them about their application, and book their interview there. This link goes straight to the application with no sign-in, and everybody who arrives through it is recorded as coming from Indeed:” — then paste your Indeed link.
Read their answer.
Yes — change your ads, below. It must be sponsored — Indeed may want a paid budget before a general job sends people to another site. Add our tracking code — send what they give you to OpsBrio before you change an ad; our phone and mailbox are at the foot of this page. No — your applicants stay in Indeed, and Applicants still in Indeed, below, brings across the ones you want.
Point each ad at your page
Indeed › Jobs › Managed on Indeed
Find the ad.
In Jobs, choose Managed on Indeed; the filter finds it.
Press the three dots beside it, then Edit job.
Open Application method and turn off Receive applications on Indeed.
It may sit under the ad’s settings — the pencil beside a part of the ad opens it. A box for your website’s address takes its place.
Paste the Indeed link into that box.
The link of the page for this job, if you advertise more than one.
Press Done, then Save Changes.
Edit the ad you have — there is no need to post it again. A new ad asks the same thing under Application method when you press Post a job.
Check it, then watch
Open the ad on Indeed, signed out, and press Apply.
Your apply page should open — not Indeed’s own form.
Don’t send a test application.
It lands on your board as a real candidate, and is sent whatever your first step sends. If you sent one, decline it with Decline… › Decline quietly — send nothing.
Watch them arrive.
Hiring › Apply pages
Each page counts who applied in the last 30 days, and everybody who came through the link says Indeed on their record and on the Board.
Applicants still in Indeed
Applications sent while an ad still said Receive applications on Indeed stay in Indeed — changing the ad does not bring them across, and neither does a No from Indeed. Work them there, or add the ones you want to your board by hand:
Press New candidate.
Hiring › Board
Their name, mobile and email, the process, and Heard from Indeed — with the ad’s name in Detail · optional if you run more than one.
Tick texts only if they said yes.
They said yes to texts about this application is for somebody who told you so — read them the words under the box before you tick it. Everybody else is emailed.
Press Add to the board.
Texts
Hiring › Configuration › Your texting
An applicant from Indeed is texted like anybody else: only after ticking the box on your page or telling you yes, and only once your company’s texting is live — Your texting says where it stands. Until then, everything goes by email from your hiring address.
